Being the middle child of 9, I know the phrase "the struggle is real" all too well. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana we moved to College Park, Georgia when I was nine years old. I struggled to find my place in my new surroundings. Like most kids, I didn't have a ton of confidence and took a lot of things very personal. My parents always told us to believe in ourselves and that we can do anything we put our minds to. But that's a little hard to do when you are always moving, relocating, and letting the little things get to you. I always loved music and dancing, so that's what I gravitated to. Michael Jackson was my favorite artist but as a youngster, my favorite song was "Play That Funky Music White Boy". My mother said anytime that song came on the radio, I would lose my mind and dance the entire song.

Dancing became my escape. I would dance, sing, and rap in local talent shows and school events; I did them all. I loved being on stage, but my dancing took me to another level. The music would come on and I would just let go and let the music talk through me. I performed with chart-topping artists like TLC, Monica, Sisqo, MYA, and others. I have also performed on the Grammys, VMAs, Show Time at The Apollo, Billboard Music Awards, VH1 Fashion Awards, Soul Train Music Awards, BET Awards, and toured the world as a dancer.

Being on stage was just the start of what my true purpose and calling was. When I was 18 years old I started mentoring kids from my neighborhood. For some, their dad’s were not around, or Mom was working long hours. I wanted to be a big brother figure to these kids. A positive figure that could help point them in the right direction. I really thought I was helping them but in all actuality, they were helping me.

I truly believe that we are all born geniuses. Our circumstances and situations don't dictate our lives. It's what we believe about our circumstances and situations that stop our personal growth that dictates our lives. It breeds insecurity, indecision, anger, disappointment, and reshapes what we think of ourselves. The same can be said of positive influences. "But if it's to be, it has to start with me". Simply put, If we allow what others say, do, or project on us to get inside our minds… It will determine the trajectory of our lives. It doesn't matter how old we are, in order to "Change our Lives, we have to Change our Thoughts".

My transition from a professional performer to sales leader, trainer, life coach, and mentor was not a smooth one, but it did help make me into the man I am today. In 2003 I spent 2 and a half years in Cairo, Egypt. I was recruited as a top Sales Leader to help grow a call center of 250 Egyptian College kids to over 1000. This was the most amazing experience I have ever had in my life. I took this opportunity to coach, mentor, train, and connect with everyone I could. As a result, most have gone on to be leaders in their respective fields of business across the world and we are still friends to this day.

If someone had told this little boy from the ghetto of College, Park & East Point, Georgia, by way of Indianapolis, Indiana who cried all the time and had low self-esteem; that he would one day be a professional performer, travel the world, be on television, touch the Pyramids in Cairo, Egypt and have dinner on the Nile River? I would’ve never believed them.

When I decided to become a Life Coach & Certified Behavior Practitioner it was something I knew in my heart I was meant to do. Over the years as a Sales Leader & Corporate Trainer, I have trained thousands of people on how to approach different situations and look at things from a different vantage point. During that time I have also had to play counselor or coach.

I think we have been programmed to think a “certain” way if we are faced with a “certain” situation. That is so far from the truth. But how would we know that if we don’t have someone to help guide us through it? My life struggles and experiences have prepared me for my purpose and passion, which is to Coach, Mentor, Train, and help others live life on their terms. It all has to start with you. None of us will ever be perfect, but we can be better than we were yesterday just by taking one step. So GETUP! Get active and Get Moving! Because Time Is Life.
